Arena parking lot case settles for $100,000

Plaintiff alleged driver was drunk at time

Anne C. Vitale

A pedestrian struck outside a Kansas City sports arena has reached a $100,000 settlement in his Jackson County personal injury case against the driver who hit him. Frank Vigliaturo, 51, was leaving a WWF wrestling event with his nephew Feb. 20, 2001, at Kemper Arena. As Vigliatur attempted to cross the street to reach an outlying parking lot, he was struck by a car driven by Dante Passantino, 25, who did not stop and left the scene, plaintiff said. Vigliaturo rolled off the hood of Passantino's car and landed on the street. Vigliaturo's 14-year-old nephew ran after the car and obtained the license number. As a result of the collision, Vigliaturo suffered an occult fracture of his left leg and some abrasions to his head and hands. He claimed he later developed chronic pain syndrome and post-traumatic stress disorder.
